rOUTE 31REGIONAL CYCLE ROUTE 31

A reasonably flat 28 mile ride through the fascinating landscape of Meres & Moses in North Shropshire.

WhitchurchMarket Towns Linking the bustling market towns of Whitchurch, with its array of fine buildings dating from Mediaeval times, and Oswestry with its narrow alleyways, Route 31 conjures up images of ancient England.

Meres, Mosses & Canals
The Meres are wetland lakes formed by glaciation and are unique in that they have no water flowing in or out of them. The Mosses are lowland raised bogs which have in the past been dug for peat.

Cycling by EllesmereEllesmere is surrounded by woodlands and gardens and is a nature lover’s paradise and this is also the birthplace of the Llangollen Canal which was designed and built by Thomas Telford. If you want to get out on the water you can hire boats for the Llangollen Canal or the Mere.
